MOVIE AT PVR GOLD (AMBIENCE MALL GURGAON)

Three holidays are coming ahead on the occasion of Rakhi. I have a habit of trying new things. I have two options “Kingdom of Dreams” and “PVR GOLD”. Kingdom of dreams was costly and left for next month. Though I do a lot of extra activities but I try to do at minimum cost.

I wanted to try PVR GOLD with a Girlfriend. I was waiting since 2008 (as PVR GOLD was launched in July 2008). But girlfriend is not in my destiny. So I tried to enjoy myself. I checked the ticket rate from internet and found it cheapest i.e. 350. For regular show they are charging 950. In 2008 ticket price was 750 which was hiked in two steps from 750 to 850 and then to 950. For last few months they have raised the morning show charges from 350 to 450. But now it was again 350. After a period of 3 years I was going to PVR GOLD. On 12th August after leaving the office I took lift in Jasmeet Singh’s car and reached Ambience Mall. But I was disappointed at ticket window; there was no movie schedule for gold class. AARKSHAN was a controversial movie, and its release was cancelled in some states including Gurgaon. I returned by a cab. On the eve of 15th August I and Jaggu went to Ambience mall to book the ticket in advance. Thank God I got it this time. My seat no. was D-5 Audi 1 (Only Audi 1 & 2 are Gold Class) and show time was 11:20 a.m. Ticket window boy told me that it is 4th row from back. I was happy. (He didn’t tell me that it was second row from front side).

It was drizzling on Monday (15th August 2011). I mounted on my bike (instead of car) as I like to ride and get drench in rain. Ambience Mall is 11 Kms away from my home. I parked the bike by paying Rs 20. After entering the mall I used the dryer installed in washroom to dry the sleeves of my shirt. Around 11 a.m. I entered the premises of PVR. They have rolled out a red carpet along with golden rods for PVR GOLD only. There is VIP lounge upstairs. Tables are equipped with some books and menu. I checked the menu. On first page wines were listed from 600 to 6000. French fries were for Rs 175. Later on I checked the washroom. It was like that of a 5-star hotel. White cotton hankies were kept along with tissue papers. Some dried petals were also kept for fragrance. After some time an attendant came to tell us that entry is open to theatre. He showed me the seat. There were no visible row numbers or seat no.

Every seat was equipped with a remote with two buttons. A manual was given with ticket explaining how to operate this remote. They electrically recline to an angle which is perfect. Your legs are propped up, and your back is at an angle which makes for a very comfortable viewing. A full size red towel was also on the seat. There was a round arm table between two seats. There were six rows in total and every rows has only 8 seats. We were total 7 viewers inside. Nowadays there is trend of playing nation anthem in theatre. After that we were served with complimentary drinks (kind of juice). I pressed the red button to call attendant (by mistake). But no one came. After some time a boy came to take order. I asked for popcorn. It was very big round paper basket which cost me Rs 120.
One thing I noticed is that one can’t cuddle with his girlfriend because of the huge chairs (it puts a big gap between the two of you). But if you really wanted to, one seat is big enough for both.

Though the movie Aarakshan was not my kind of choice but the GOLD-CLASS experience was an experience of its own.
